Methodism has always had a primary concern with the person and work of the Holy Spirit. John Wesley's sermons revolved around a robust pneumatology (theology of the Holy Spirit) with great regularity.
Yet over the course of a couple of centuries, the Holy Ghost became somewhat alien to average churchgoers, taking the place of something of a benign pet rather than a powerful transformational personal agent, equal to the Father and the Son. For that reason, the Pentecostal movement eventually came out of us and quickly grew away from us. Today, they are growing around the world while Methodism largely shrinks in the West.
The GMC, in reclaiming some of our roots, is rightly engaged in the process of reclaiming a robust pneumatology. But what sort of pneumatology will it be? A charismatic infatuation with signs and wonders? An early Methodist concern of the Spirit bearing witness with our spirits that we are children of God? Both? Where do we currently stand? How might upcoming legislation at our General Conference impact these things?

Apparently Locals isn't processing my live streams this month. I'm not sure what the issue is. A supporter asked about this particular episode, so I uploaded it here for him (and anyone else who wants to go back).
Debra Baty is the head of Resources 4 Redemption, which is an effort aimed at spreading good information about sexual orientation and gender identity. She recently published an article about “sexual fluidity” and how it impacts our sanctification in Firebrand Magazine. It is a good piece, and Debra does worthy work. All believers in the West have to contend with the artificial ideas of the sexual revolution. There is nowhere we can go that these issues do not impact us. The only way out is through.
Debra has a personal story that is quite compelling. She is a trustworthy, thoughtful, and conscientious resource. All covenant Christian bodies need to know where they stand on these things, lest the evil one sow confusion. Now is the time to reflect upon these things. Days are coming when what we believe will be put to the test. If we have not prepared, then we cannot expect to prevail.
